General Assistance

The General Assistance (GA) program in Maine is administered by each municipality in order to provide immediate help to eligible people who do not have enough money for basic needs, such as rent/mortgage, food, heating fuel, medications, non-elective medical care and other items that are essential to maintain themselves or their families. The Town of Lincoln offers General Assistance and Heating Fuel Assistance for residents who qualify. To apply, make an appointment with one of the GA Officers, complete an application, and bring one month of income/payment receipts. If you need emergency assistance outside of our regular office hours (M-F, 8am-5pm), please contact the Lincoln Police Department at 207-794-2221.

The Lincoln Regional Food Cupboard at 32 Park Ave. is open on Tuesdays from 9-11 AM and is run by a non-profit volunteer group.

To make a donation to our Heating Fuel Fund, please send the donation to: Town of Lincoln, c/o Heating Fund Donation, 29 Main St. Lincoln, Maine 04457.
